Quick Reference
Use official debugger tools to clear cache:
- Facebook: Sharing Debugger → "Scrape Again"
- LinkedIn: Post Inspector → Auto-clears on inspect
- Twitter: Card Validator → Preview card
- Telegram: Send URL to
@WebpageBot
Why Platforms Cache
Social platforms cache OG tags for performance. Cache durations:
| Platform | Cache Duration | Clear Tool |
|---|---|---|
| 7-30 days | Sharing Debugger | |
| 7-14 days | Post Inspector | |
| ~7 days | Card Validator | |
| Slack | 24-48 hours | No official tool |
| Discord | 24 hours | No official tool |
- Go to Facebook Sharing Debugger
- Paste your URL and click "Debug"
- Click "Scrape Again" to refresh cache
- Wait a few minutes, then test by sharing
- Go to LinkedIn Post Inspector
- Paste your URL and click "Inspect"
- Cache clears automatically when you inspect
LinkedIn Tip
LinkedIn's cache can be stubborn. If the preview doesn't update, try adding a query parameter: ?v=2
Twitter/X
- Go to Twitter Card Validator
- Paste your URL and click "Preview card"
- Re-validating refreshes the cache
Other Platforms
For platforms without debugger tools (Slack, Discord, WhatsApp):
- Add query parameter:
?v=2or?refresh=1creates a "new" URL - Wait: Most caches expire in 24-48 hours
- Change image filename:
og-image-v2.jpg
